Hillsborough Sheriff Targets Reckless, Aggressive Drivers

Complaints and the number of crashes prompted the stepped up enforcement.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – In response to increased citizen complaints, reported crashes and observations by law enforcement, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office will be undertaking a corridor safety operation for the next two weeks along the following corridors:

*U.S. 301 from I-4 north to the Pasco County Line.
*I-4 from I-75 east to the Polk County Line.

The purpose of the enforcement is to provide a safe environment for motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians. Special emphasis will be placed on reported aggressive and/or reckless driving.

Personnel involved will include motor deputies and deputies in marked and unmarked vehicles. In addition portable message boards will also be placed within the areas.

Citizens may see an increased law enforcement presence in these areas. Operations will be ongoing for two weeks during the morning, evening rush hours and during peak traffic periods during the weekends.
