The victim is in critical condition, deputies say.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – A teenager is facing charges after he used a car to run over a victim after an argument between the two individuals.

The victim was taken to a hospital where he remains in critical condition.

The 17 year old was charged with one count each of Attempted Murder in the Second Degree and Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies say the two were involved in a physical dispute about 11:10 p.m. Thursday (March 11) while in a stopped car near the intersection of 15th Street N and 151st Avenue E in Tampa. The victim later got out of the car and began walking eastbound on 151st Avenue East.

Witnesses told detectives they heard the teen rev the engine of the car, then drive toward the victim, ultimately hitting him.

“This young suspect used his vehicle as a weapon,” Hillsborough Sheriff Chad Chronister said. “The lives of many changed dramatically, and in just a few seconds, as a result of his unjustifiable actions. The suspect will be held accountable for the damages he caused to the lives of others.”
