The Community Foundation of Tampa Bay announces prizes for Give Day Tampa Bay, the 24-hour online giving challenge.

TAMPA – The Community Foundation of Tampa Bay, host of Give Day Tampa Bay, has announced that this year’s $50,000 in prizes will be awarded to nonprofit organizations that engage the donor base and raise funds in creative ways.

Nonprofits become eligible for prizes by securing matching funds, implementing creative campaigns or gaining the most number of unique donors.

The first 50 nonprofits that secure and meet a matching donation of at least $500 on Give Day will be eligible for one of 30 prizes of $1,000. Winners will be selected at random, and the matches must be set up in the GiveDay.org platform. Only gifts made through the platform on May 1 will count toward matching prizes.

Matching funds exponentially increase the amount of money raised by a nonprofit during Give Day. For example, a nonprofit that raises $500 and secures a $500 matching donation has already doubled the money it has raised. Couple it with one of the $1,000 matching prizes, and a nonprofit has quadrupled its fundraising efforts.

“Sponsoring Give Day is a perfect fit with our focus on helping the community effect change,” said Jose Colindres, chief operating officer, the Brink Foundation, this year’s premier sponsor for Give Day. “Nonprofits can leverage the marketing power behind Give Day to gain more exposure and to make an even greater positive impact.”

In addition to the matching prizes, the Community Foundation will again award a $5,000 Creativity prize to the nonprofit that executes the most “out-of-the-box” thinking and unique strategy. Application to apply will be available March 26 on GiveDay.org.

“Last year, we encouraged participating nonprofits to get creative, and they rose to the challenge,” said Marlene Spalten, president and CEO of the Community Foundation of Tampa Bay. “We expect them to build upon that momentum, and we look forward to seeing even more nonprofits thinking strategically about their Give Day campaigns.”

Other prizes will be awarded to the organizations that secure the most unique donors:
• $5,000 awarded by the Gobioff Foundation to the small arts and culture organization with the most unique donors (less than $500,000 operating budget).
• $5,000 awarded by the Gobioff Foundation to the large arts and culture organization with the most unique donors (more than $500,000 operating budget).
• $2,500 awarded by the DeBartolo Family Foundation to the nonprofit with the most unique donors in the animal services category.
• $2,000 awarded to the small organization with the most unique donors overall (less than $250,000 operating budget).
• $2,000 awarded to the medium organization with the most unique donors overall ($250,000-750,000 operating budget).
• $2,000 awarded to the large organization with the most unique donors overall (more than $750,000 operating budget).
