Area Agency on Aging Launches Telephone Reassurance Program

The calls will not only provide these seniors with a friendly check-in while they are socially isolating, but also offer information about different emergency resources that are available.

PINELLAS/PASCO COUNTIES – The Area Agency on Aging of Pasco Pinellas, in partnership with its network of non-profit partners, is launching a telephone reassurance program to support seniors affected by the COVID-19 outbreak.

These telephone-based wellness check-ins will directly address issues seniors are experiencing related to COVID-19 and the necessary social distancing measures that have been put in place to slow the spread of the virus.

Together, AAAPP and its partner network are embarking on an effort to reach out to every currently active and wait-listed client across all programs. The calls will not only provide these seniors with a friendly check-in while they are socially isolating, but also offer information about different emergency resources that are available.

Staff began calling older adults this week and will continue making wellness calls throughout the course of the local state of emergency.

The Area Agency on Aging of Pasco Pinellas is a non-profit organization that has been serving seniors and individuals with disabilities in our community since 1974. It serves as the Aging and Disability Resource Center for the entire two-county area, providing an initial entry point for all aging and disability social services and coordinating a network of partners and providers to better meet the needs of our aging population. Each year, AAAPP serves more than 50,000 local older adults through a variety of programs, including home meal delivery, transportation, adult day care, health and well-being programming, and information and referral services provided through the Elder Helpline.
