Farm Share Food Giveaway Set in Lealman

LEALMAN – As part of the countywide effort to meet the growing need for food assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Pinellas County Commission and its community partners are hosting a free produce and food distribution event Friday (April 24) in Lealman.

The Farm Share event will take place from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Florida Dream Center, 4017 56th Ave. N., or for as long as supplies last, with items available on a first-come, first-erved basis. Distribution will be drive-through only, and volunteers will wear protective gear and practice safe social distancing.

The county’s involvement in the Farm Share program is part of a continuous effort to ensure public well-being by distributing healthy foods to citizens most in need. Anyone in need of assistance with grocery necessities is welcome to attend.

The c  ounty is also coordinating with dozens of food banks, nonprofits and Pinellas County Schools to provide continual food assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic. Residents can find comprehensive information on applying for food assistance, locating local food banks and more at

Farm Share is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the distribution of nutritious foods to those in need. It serves as a link between farmers with surplus produce and social service agencies in Florida and throughout the southeastern U.S. Last year, Farm Share served more than 6 million Florida households and distributed 40 million pounds of food to needy families. The BCC again welcomes Farm Share to Pinellas County in partnership with several community organizations, including the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, Police Athletic League, Florida Blue and the Florida Dream Center.
