The shooting happened Sunday (Jan. 1), according to the Hillsborough Sheriff’s Office.

VALRICO – One person is dead after a shooting Sunday (Jan. 1) at a home in this unincorporated community, the Hillsborough Sheriff’s Office said.

Information is limited because the incident is under investigation.

The shooting happened inside a home in the 4500 block of Cabbage Palm Drive, deputies said. One person was taken to a local hospital and died a short time after arrival. The shooter remained on the scene.

Deputies said they are conducting interviews including with the shooter and others and examining forensic evidence. They said they are working closely with the Hillsborough County State Attorney’s Office and the Hillsborough County Medical Examiners’s Office.
