He was crossing Gulf Boulevard when he was hit, Pinellas deputies said.

NORTH REDINGTON BEACH – A British tourist died of injuries he suffered when he was hit while walking across Gulf Boulevard, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said.

Roger P. Galvin, 61, of Southwick, West Sussex, Great Britain, died at Bayfront Health St. Petersburg where he was taken after the crash.

The crash happened about 11:18 p.m. Friday (Jan. 25) in front of the Double Tree Resort, 17120 Gulf Blvd. in North Redington Beach.

Deputies said 35-year-old Alex Lyons of Pinellas Park was driving his 2015 Dodge Dart south on Gulf Boulevard approaching the Double Tree Resort. Mr. Galvin was crossing Gulf Boulevard
from west to east, not in a crosswalk, in front of the Double Tree Resort, when he was struck by Lyons’ vehicle.

Impairment and speed do not appear to be factors in the crash.
