A tribute is planned Wednesday (April 4) to commemorate the the 50th anniversary of the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

ST. PETERSBURG – The Dr. Carter G. Woodson African American History Museum in partnership with One City Chorus and Studio@620 will host a tribute commemorating the anniversary of Dr. King’s assassination April 4, 1968.

The event will take place beginning at 7 p.m. at the Palladium, 253 5^th Ave. N. This is a free event.

The evening will include excerpts from Dr. King’s writings and speeches, reflections of historic events in St. Petersburg and musical performances.

Participants include St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Kriseman, Deputy Mayor Kanika Tomalin, Chair of the City Council Lisa Bowman-Wheeler, Pinellas County Commission Chair Ken Welch, President of St. Petersburg College Dr. Tonjua Williams, Executive Director of the Dr. Carter G. Woodson African American History Museum Terri Lipsey Scott, Artistic Director of Studio@620 Bob Devin Jones; musicians Sharon Scott, Alex Harris, One City Chorus and others.

The event is sponsored by the city of St. Petersburg, the Dr. Carter G. Woodson African American Museum, One City Chorus, Studio@620, St. Petersburg College, and Arts Conservatory for Teens.
