Hurricane season begins June 1.

SEMINOLE – Hurricane season begins June 1 and it’s time to dust off your hurricane preparation plans. When threatened by a storm do you run or do you hide? Do you have a plan?

Being prepared is a major part of the answer to these questions and is a key to being safe. In preparation, the city of Seminole is taking a proactive stance by keeping you educated and informed of what options you have in case of an emergency.

This involves providing a communitywide informational Hurricane Seminar that will be engaging and informative. The Hurricane Seminar is set for 10 a.m. Saturday (May 18) at the Seminole Community Library on the St. Petersburg College Seminole Campus, 9200 113th St.

Ed Bloodsworth, meteorologist with WFLA StormTeam8, will present an informative and expert look at hurricanes and tropical storms. Bloodsworth has covered many significant weather events in the Tampa Bay area.

Also speaking will be Seminole Fire Rescue Public Affairs Officer Brad Dykens who serves as Seminole’s community preparedness and life safety coordinator. He will share life safety and property conservation tips that will help prepare you and your family for a tropical event.

Every year thousands of Floridians are affected or threatened by tropical cyclone activity. Be ready and be informed, attend the city of Seminole’s Hurricane Seminar.
