World Day Festival of Cultural Diversity Is This Saturday (May 21)

The multicultural festival takes place at the St. Petersburg Shuffleboard Club.
ST. PETERSBURG — In observance of World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development on Saturday (May 21), SPIFFS and the Friends of the Sunshine Center are joining to celebrate Asian-American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month and also Older Americans Month in a multi-cultural festival. The free event is 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the St. Petersburg Shuffleboard Club, 559 Mirror Lake Drive N.
World Day is a day set aside by the United Nations as an opportunity to deepen our understanding of the values of cultural diversity.
A variety of ethnic foods will be available for sale: Indian, Thai, Japanese, African-American, Chinese, German, Bulgarian, Colombian, Venezuelan and more. Folk music and dance will be performed by Russian, Serbian, German, Dominican, Panamanian and several other groups. Crafters and non-profit groups will also be part of the festivities.
