If you’re looking for fireworks, parades or other entertainment to celebrate the Fourth of July in Tampa Bay, you don’t have to look far. Here are some July 4 events in Hillsborough.

PLANT CITY

Plant City’s July 4th Celebration is back for 2016! Coordinated by the Plant City recreation and parks department, the skies above Plant City will again fill with fireworks.

The event, originally held in 2002 and held annually through 2007, had to be shelved because of a lack of funding in 2008 and it remained there for four years.

“We are extremely proud of our community” said Jack Holland, Plant City director of recreation and parks. “When the need arises, they always step forward and make it happen. Without their support through financial or in-kind assistance, this event would not be possible.”

Various activities will be available on the stadium turf, pending weather restrictions, including inflatables, face painting, balloon art, corn hole bean bag toss, kid crafts, rock climbing wall, bungee jump and more. Along with the stadium concession stands being open, various food vendors will be positioned inside the stadium along the perimeter of the field. A 50-50 drawing will also be offered with proceeds split between the winner and the event for future expenses.

Details: Admission to the event is free with parking costing $5 per car. The celebration will take place on Monday (July 4) at Plant City Stadium, 1810 East Park Road. The parking lot gates open at 5:45 p.m. and the stadium gates will open at 6 p.m. Scheduled to perform on stage is the Daniel Sprouse Band for the first half of the evening, followed by the Double Barrel Band, leading up to the National Anthem at 9 p.m. The 20-minute fireworks show is planned for 9:15 p.m. Parking will only be available in the stadium parking lot. No parking will be allowed near the complex along Park Road, Jim Johnson Road, Roberts Ranch Road or Gordon Food Service Drive. No coolers nor any outside food or drinks will allowed into the stadium. Per city ordinance, no alcohol is allowed on the property. Bags and backpacks will be subject to search at the stadium entrance.

TAMPA

Ybor City

For more than a century the Shriners have been fixtures in parades across the U.S. Their iconic red fezzes, colorful clowns, mini cars, precision marching units and horse patrols showcase the international fraternity’s long-standing tradition of fun and fellowship while raising awareness for their official philanthropy, Shriners Hospitals for Children. The Imperial Session parade is the largest Shriners parade of the year and will feature dozens of entries from Shriner chapters, clubs and units from around the world.

Details: The parade starts at 6 p.m. The parade starts at the intersection of Nuccio Parkway and 7th Avenue and proceeds east on 7th through the Historic District, then turns north on 20th Street. Portions of Nuccio Parkway, Palm Avenue and 7th Avenue will be closed for the parade. The road closures will be in effect from about 3 p.m. Monday (July 4) until about 10 p.m. Please use caution when traveling in the area and use the suggested alternate routes to avoid congestion.

Channelside

Tampa Bay’s largest summer fireworks. Celebrate Independence Day with live music, entertainment, family-friendly activities and a festive waterfront fireworks display.

Details: 615 Channelside Drive. Only 3,000 waterfront wristbands are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Entertainment starts at 6 p.m. Monday. Fireworks go off about 9 p.m.

TEMPLE TERRACE

Don’t forget to come out and enjoy our annual Fourth of July Parade & Fireworks, hosted by the Greater Temple Terrace Chamber of Commerce. The popular event draws thousands of visitors and residents tothe shady, tree-lined streets.

Details: The parade is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. Monday. It will begin at the corner of Whiteway Drive and Gillette Avenue. Parade units will head south on Gillette, west on Druid Hills, then south on Ridgedale Road to the Ridgedale Sports Complex near Temple Terrace Elementary School. Evening festivities will begin at 6 p.m. on the first fairway of the Temple Terrace golf course. There will be a variety of food vendors, live music and other entertainment. Fireworks will light up the sky at 9:15 p.m. and can be viewed from the first fairway of the golf course. Lawn chairs and blankets are OK, but please do not bring personal fireworks of any kind to the golf course. Free parking is available in the downtown redevelopment area (corner of Bullard Parkway and 56th Street) and on residential streets except where “No Parking” signs are posted.
