Rick Kriseman | St Petersburg Mayor | Politics

The mayor has directed that the city shall consider health as a factor in policymaking and in city services.

ST. PETERSBURG – Mayor Rick Kriseman issued an Executive Order on Thursday (April 19) related to the city’s St. Petersburg’s Healthy St. Pete initiative by establishing health as a consideration in all policies and projects.

The Executive Order, only the second issued during the mayor’s tenure, will help to accelerate and improve health equity and access in St. Petersburg. The Executive Order says, “It shall be the policy of the city of St. Petersburg to apply the consideration of health, health impacts, and the social determinants of health to the city’s decisionmaking, including policy development and implementation, budgeting and the delivery of services.”

Kriseman also said he would designate a full-time planner trained to conduct “health in all policy” recommendations for relevant city interdepartmental policy and projects. The planner will be paid with grant money from the Foundation for a Healthy St. Petersburg and the Pinellas County Department of Health.
