Police Lights | Florida | TB Reporter

He was driving the wrong way on U.S. 301 while passing other vehicles, FHP troopers said.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – A Mulberry man died Tuesday (April 30) of injuries he suffered in a wrong-way crash with a semi-tractor trailer on U.S. 301, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Tyler Andrew White, 22, of Mulberry, died at Blake Medical Center where he was taken after the crash. Alcohol was not a factor in the crash. The other driver was not injured.

The crash happened about 7:41 a.m. on U.S. 301 near the intersection of Lenfred Drive in Hillsborough County.

Troopers said Mr. White was driving a 2010 Ford Focus north in the southbound lanes of U.S. 301 as he tried to pass multiple vehicles.

The Ford collided nearly head on with a 1998 International semi-tractor trailer that was traveling south in the southbound lane.

The crash closed all lanes on U.S. 301 until about 2 p.m.

No charges are pending.
