U.S. 301 Crash Kills Pedestrian

She was on the side of the road when she was hit by a van’s outside mirror as the vehicle passed her.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – A Gibsonton woman died of injuries she received in a crash Friday (Sept. 14) on U.S. 301, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Rhonda Darlene Reel, 52, of Gibsonton, died at Tampa General Hospital where she was taken after the crash.

The crash happened about 8:10 p.m. on U.S. 301 south of Sabal Industrial Boulevard in Hillsborough County.

Troopers said Ms. Reel was walking southbound on the outside shoulder of U.S. 301 when she was hit by the outside mirror of a 2012 Ford E350 as it passed her. The Ford was driven by Justin Larry, 21, of Seffner.
