U.S. 19 Crash Fatal for Spring Hill Motorcyclist

The other driver made a U-turn that took her into the motorcycle’s path, according to FHP troopers.

HERNANDO COUNTY – A Spring  Hill man died of injuries he suffered Wednesday (Nov. 6) in a crash on U.S. 19, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Giovanni I. Ramos, 26, of Spring Hill, died at the Regional Medical Center at Bayonet Point where he was taken after the crash. He was wearing a helmet.

No one else was injured in the crash.

The crash happened about 9:58 a.m. at the intersection of U.S. 19 N and Windward Boulevard in Hernando County.

Troopers said a 2010 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Margaret D. Fair, 83, of Spring Hill, made a U-turn from northbound U.S. 19 to southbound U.S. 19. The U-turn took the Chevrolet into the path of the 2012 Honda CBR that Mr. Ramos was driving.

In an attempt to avoid the crash, troopers said Mr. Ramos laid the motorcycle down before it hit the rear of the Chevrolet.

Charges are pending, troopers said.
