Traffic Crash Kills Spring Hill Motorcyclist

He turned in front of an oncoming SUV, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

PASCO COUNTY – A Spring Hill motorcycle driver died Monday (Feb. 12) of injuries he received in a traffic crash, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

William Ray Lawrence, 57, of Spring Hill, died at the Regional Medical Center at Bayonet Point where he was taken after the crash. He had not been wearing a helmet, troopers said.

The crash happened about 6:42 a.m. on State Road 52 at Chicago Avenue. Troopers said Mr. Lawrence was headed west on SR 52 when he turned left onto Chicago. As he turned, Mr. Lawrence drove his 1998 Honda motorcycle into the path of an oncoming 2004 Toyota Sequoia driven by David Robert Wright, 71, of New Port Richey.

The motorcycle struck the side of the SUV and Mr. Lawrence was thrown off the bike.
