HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – A Riverview teen was seriously injured in a crash Tuesday (Oct. 30) when she ran into the rear of a stopped SUV on U.S. 41, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Kyleigh Krisanne Overholt, 19, of Riverview, was taken to Tampa General Hospital in serious condition. She was cited for careless driving, troopers said. The other two drivers in the three-vehicle crash suffered minor injuries but were not taken to a hospital.

The crash happened about 3:58 p.m. on southbound U.S. 41 on the Alafia River Bridge in Hillsborough County.

Troopers said Overholt was driving a 2000 GMC pickup south on U.S. 41. When she crested a rise in the bridge, she collided with the rear of a 2014 Honda SUV driven by Alison Shryock, 39, of Apollo Beach, who was stopped in traffic.

The impact pushed the Honda into the rear of a 2016 Toyota SUV driven by Pilar Esteva-Gonzalez, 27, of Gibsonton, who was also stopped in traffic.

The crash temporarily blocked the southbound lanes of U.S. 41.
