Pinellas Park Woman Dies After U.S. 301 Crash

She was walking in a lane of U.S. 301, FHP troopers say.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – A Pinellas Park woman died of injuries she suffered Wednesday (Sept. 4) when she was hit by a semi while walking along U.S. 301, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Gabrielle Jenkins, 20, of Pinellas Park, died at Tampa General Hospital where she was taken after the crash.

The crash happened about 11:33 p.m. on southbound U.S. 301 north of I-4 in Hillsborough County.

Troopers said Ms. Jenkins was walking north in the outside southbound lane of U.S. 301 when she was hit by a semi-tractor-trailer that was traveling south in the lane. The semi driver was unable to see her and, although he tried an evasive maneuver, was unable to avoid her.
