Pedestrian Seriously Injured in Pinellas Hit and Run Crash

The Florida Highway Patrol is seeking information about the vehicle that struck the pedestrian.

PINELLAS COUNTY – A St. Petersburg man was seriously injured this morning (March 22) when he was struck by a hit and run driver, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Robert Klimczak, 56, was taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg with serious injuries.

The crash happened about 6:20 a.m. at 2901 44th Ave. N. Troopers said Klimczak was walking along the west shoulder of 44th Avenue west of 28th Street N when he was hit by a vehicle that was traveling westbound. The vehicle fled the scene. Troopers asked that anyone with any information about the crash contact either the FHP or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-TIPS.
