PINELLAS COUNTY – A St. Petersburg woman died Saturday (Sept. 24) afternoon while crossing 34th Street N in the unincorporated Lealman area, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Joanne M. Hathorn, 61, of St. Petersburg, died at the scene.

Troopers said she was crossing 34th Street N at 50th Avenue about 5:09 p.m. when she was hit by a 2008 Mazda3 driven by John E. Montgomery, 24, of St. Petersburg. Alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
