Pedestrian Dies in Hit-and-Run Crash on Fourth Street N

ST. PETERSBURG – A man was killed Christmas Eve when he was hit by two vehicles while crossing Fourth Street N, the St. Petersburg Police Department said.

Jeffrey Wade Wilson, 47, died at the scene. St. Petersburg police are searching for one of the drivers, who left the scene after the crash. The other stayed and is helping with the investigation, officers said.

The crash happened about 9:10 p.m. Monday (Dec. 24) on Fourth Street N at 23rd Avenue.

Mr. Wilson was crossing Fourth when he was struck and killed by a red Jeep SUV traveling northbound in the curb lane, police said. As Mar. Wilson was lying in the roadway, he was struck a second time by a 2014 Fiat 500L.

Both vehicles pulled into the Baycare Urgent Care parking lot, 2331 4th St. N, then the Jeep driver sped away.

St. Petersburg police are looking for a small to midsized Jeep SUV; possibly red or maroon in color. The vehicle should have damage to the front end.
