Passenger Dies After SUV Crash
FHP troopers said the crash was alcohol related.
PASCO COUNTY – A Land O’ Lakes man died Saturday (Dec. 8) of injuries he suffered in a Pasco County traffic crash, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
Jose Luis Jiminez, 35, of Land O’ Lakes, died at St. Joseph’s Hospital where he was taken after the crash. He was not wearing a seat belt.
The driver of the SUV, Diana Carolina Canon, 22, of Brooksville, received minor injuries in the crash. She was taken to Florida Hospital Wesley Chapel.
The crash happened about 2:18 a.m. on Chancy Road west of Foxwood Boulevard in Pasco.
Troopers said Canon was driving a 2018 Mazda CX5 east on Chancy Road. As the Mazda approached the Foxwood intersection, it continued east, ran off the road and hit a tree.
Both Canon and Mr. Jiminez had been drinking, troopers said.
