Motorcyclist Dies in U.S. 19 Crash

An SUV turned into the path of the motorcycle, FHP troopers said.

PASCO COUNTY – A Holiday motorcyclist died Thursday (Jan. 31) in a traffic crash on U.S. 19, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Lyle K. Alexander, 47, of Holiday, died at the scene. He was wearing a helmet. No one else was injured in the crash.

The crash happened about 9:14 a.m. at the intersection of  U.S. 19 and Denton Avenue in Pasco County.

Troopers said Patrice L. Smiley, 48, of Spring Hill, was driving a 2013 Hyundai Tucson south on U.S. 19. She turned left at the intersection of Denton Avenue with a yellow, flashing traffic signal. The turn took her into the path of the 2011 Suzuki that Mr. Alexander was driving north on U.S. 19. Troopers said the motorcycle had a green light.
