Motorcyclist Dies in Hit and Run Crash on Courtney Campbell

The motorcyclist was hit by two vehicles after he was thrown from his bike in an initial crash. One vehicle left the scene, according to the Tampa Police Department.

TAMPA – A motorcyclist died this morning (Feb. 24) in a hit and run crash on Courtney Campbell Causeway, the Tampa Police Department said.

Yasiel Ramirez Guitierrez, 24, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the crash happened about 1:35 a.m. Mr. Guitierrez was driving west on the Courtney Campbell at a high rate of speed when he hit the rear end of a pickup truck that had made a  U-turn at the Ben T. Davis traffic light.

The impact caused Mr. Guitierrez to be ejected from his bike and land in the roadway where he was subsequently struck by two additional vehicles. One of those vehicles remained at
the scene and the other fled westbound on the Courtney Campbell.
