A mini-van turned into his path, FHP troopers said.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – A Tampa motorcyclist died in a traffic crash that closed a portion of Hillsborough Avenue for several hours Friday (Sept. 14), the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Alexis Candelario Pacheco, of Tampa, died at the scene. The other driver was not injured.

The crash happened about 9:56 p.m. on Hillsborough Avenue at Countryway Boulevard in Hillsborough County.

Troopers said Mr. Pacheco was driving a 2006 Suzuki GSX R west on Hillsborough Avenue. At the intersection of Countryway, Jason M. Rodgers-Price, 50, of Oldsmar, turned the 2010 Toyota Sienna he was driving left from Hillsborough onto Countryway.

The turn took the Toyota into the path of the Suzuki, which hit the mini-van’s right rear side.

Troopers said the crash closed a portion of Hillsborough for several hours.
