Motorcyclist Critical after Hit-and-Run Crash on SR 54

The unknown vehicle turned into the path of the oncoming motorcyclist, Florida Highway Patrol troopers said.

PASCO COUNTY – Florida Highway Patrol troopers are searching for the driver of a vehicle that critically injured a motorcyclist Saturday in a State Road 54 crash.

Paul Lee Ross, 43, of Auburndale, was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital in critical condition. He was not wearing a helmet.

The crash happened about 11:03 p.m. at the intersection of SR 54 and Oak Grove Boulevard.

Troopers said Ross was driving a 2001 motorcycle west on SR 54. The unknown driver was traveling east on SR 54. The unknown vehicle turned into the path of Ross’ motorcycle, which hit the right side of the unknown vehicle. After the crash, the unknown driver fled the scene.

The unknown vehicle was last seen traveling south on Oak Grove Boulevard. It was described as a dark grey Toyota sedan driven by a white woman with blonde hair.
