The vehicle was described as a dark colored sedan, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – A Tampa man was seriously injured Thursday (May 4) when he was hit while crossing a road, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Gary Sheets, 49, of Tampa, was taken to Tampa General Hospital in serious condition. Troopers said they believe he had been drinking.

The crash happened about 6:29 a.m. on State Road 574 west of Lake Drive. Sheets walked into the path of a vehicle while crossing SR 574, troopers said. The vehicle hit Sheets and kept gonig.
