Hit-and-Run Crash on U.S. 301 Kills Motorcyclist

His passenger was seriously injured, FHP troopers said.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – A Wimauma motorcyclist died of injuries he suffered in a hit-and-run crash Saturday (March 30) on U.S. 301, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Jeffrey J. Ringle, 48, of Wimauma, died at Tampa General Hospital where he was taken after the crash.

His passenger, Megan K. Ringle, 45, also of Wimauma, was taken to Tampa General in serious condition. Troopers said both were wearing helmets.

The crash happened about 10:24 p.m. on U.S. 301 south of Sun City Center Boulevard in Hillsborough County.

Troopers said the unknown vehicle was traveling south on U.S. 301 passing a line of traffic in a no-passing zone. The vehicle collided with Mr. Ringle who was driving a 2017 motorcycle north on U.S. 301. The vehicle then fled the scene. The impact threw both the Ringles off the motorcycle and onto the road shoulder.
