The crash closed portions of the eastbound lanes of Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard for several hours.

CLEARWATER – A man has died from injuries he suffered in a crash Friday (May 10) on Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard, the Clearwater Police Department said.

Jeffrey L. Bickel, 57, died at Bayfront Health St. Petersburg where he was taken after the crash.

Police and emergency medical personnel were called to the 2200 block of Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard about 9:50 p.m. after receiving reports that a pedestrian trying to cross Gulf-to-Bay had been hit by an eastbound vehicle. Mr. Bickel was trying to cross the street southbound in the middle of the block and not in a crosswalk when he walked into the path of a 2015 Chevrolet Cruze.

All lanes of Gulf-to-Bay from Belcher Road to Old Coachman Road were temporarily shut down while the investigation was conducted and emergency vehicles were on scene. After westbound lanes were reopened, police said eastbound  lanes between Belcher and Old Coachman would remain closed for several more hours.
