PASCO COUNTY – A Port Richey woman is in critical condition after colliding nearly head-on with a marked patrol car belonging to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Jessie Joyce Felcoski, 85, of Port Richey, was taken to Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point with critical injuries. She later died there of her injuries. Trooper Scott Maus, 35, of Brooksville, the other driver, was not injured, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash happened about 2:24 p.m. Thursday (Sept. 7) at the intersection of Little Road and Jasmine Boulevard. Troopers said Maus was driving his marked 2016 Dodge Charger patrol car south on Little Road responding to a different traffic crash. He did not have his patrol car in emergency mode. He had a green light as he passed through the intersection.

Felcoski, who was driving a 2002 Kia in the northbound lanes on Little, turned west, or left, onto Jasmine under a flashing yellow signal, troopers said. The Kia crashed nearly head on into the patrol car.
