It is unclear if alcohol was a factor in the crash, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – A Seffner woman died this morning (May 26) from injuries she suffered when the SUV she was driving overturned, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Amanda K. Cepeda-Duque, 21, of Seffner, died at Tampa General Hospital where she was taken after the crash. Her passenger, Aurelio Espinoza, 25, of Plant City, was also taken to Tampa General in critical condition. Neither one was wearing a seat belt.

The crash happened about 3:15 a.m. on State Road 574 east of Tanner Road.

Troopers said Ms. Cepeda-Duque was driving a 2007 Chevrolet SUV west on SR 574 when, for an unknown reason, the vehicle left the road, went onto the south shoulder, overturned and hit a fence before stopping in a private yard.

Ms. Cepeda-Duque and Espinoza were both thrown from the SUV.

Troopers said Espinoza had been drinking. It is unclear if Ms. Cepeda-Duque had been drinking. Results of toxicology tests are pending.
