Brandon Man Dies After I-275 Crash

He had a medical emergency while driving, FHP troopers said.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – A Brandon man died Friday (May 17) after crashing his pickup truck on I-275 when he suffered a medical emergency, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Dennis J. Gomes, 65, of Brandon, died at Tampa General Hospital where he was taken after the crash.

The crash happened about 9:27 a.m. on northbound I-275 approaching Westshore Boulevard.

Troopers said Mr. Gomes was driving a 1997 Chevrolet S-10 when he suffered a medical emergency and lost control of the pickup, which left the road and hit a guardrail.
