HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – A bicyclist died early Monday (Oct. 2) after he was hit by three vehicles, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Allen Griffin, 55, of Tampa, died at the scene.

The crash happened about 2:52. a.m. on HIllsborough Avenue east of 50th Street. A 2005 Chevrolet Equinox driven by Tiarra S. Williams, 28, of Bowling Green, FL, was headed east on Hillsborough when it collided with the bicycle that Mr. Griffin was riding. Troopers said the bike was traveling ahead of the Chevrolet in the outside lane directly in the path of the Chevrolet.

Mr Griffin was thrown off the bike and landed in the road where he was hit by a 2002 Lexus ES300 driven by Jarvis Lamot Young, 34, of Lakeland, and a third vehicle.

After the impact, the third vehicle, described as a gray or green passenger car, left the scene.
