Off-Duty Pinellas Deputy Dies of Self-Inflicted Gunshot Wound
Pinellas sheriff’s detectives are investigating the death of an off-duty deputy who died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
CLEARWATER – The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a off-duty deputy who died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Pinellas Deputy Carlos Felipez, 46, was found deceased in the back yard of his home in the unincorporated Clearwater area. He had worked for the Pinellas sheriff’s office since Feb. 24, 2014. He worked in the patrol operations bureau.
Deputies were called to Deputy Felipez’s home about 1:07 this morning (Dec. 29) for a report of a gunshot heard and a welfare check.
When deputies arrived they said they found off-duty Deputy Felipez deceased in the back yard of his residence.
