Police Tape | Caution | Safety

Two brothers were wounded in a dispute with the bar’s owner, HIllsborough deputies said.

RIVERVIEW – Two brothers were wounded Friday (Dec. 1) when they were shot during a confrontation with the owner of a Riverview bar, the Hillsborough Sheriff’s Office said.

Stephan M.Long, 69, was shot in the chest, and Jeffrey S. Long, 55, was shot in the shoulder. The brothers, both of Riverview, were taken by ambulances to Tampa General Hospital. They were listed in critical but stable condition early this morning (Dec. 2).

The shooting happened about 6:30 p.m. at the Beer Shed, 11222 Caso Loma Drive. Deputies said the two brothers have had ongoing arguments with the bar owner, Mark A. Sullivan, 57, over neighborhood issues. On Friday evening, the Longs confronted the bar owner, with Stephan Long punching Sullivan in the face.

Sullivan pulled out his .380 caliber pistol, and then noticed one of the brothers was carrying a baseball bat. He fired at each brother, hitting both.

Deputies said they interviewed Sullivan and the incident was captured on the bar’s surveillance cameras.

Deputies are consulting with the Hillsborough County State Attorney’s Office, and the investigation continues.
