Kriseman Endorses Figgs-Sanders for St. Pete Council

Deborah Figgs-Sanders is running for the District 5 seat on the St. Petersburg City Council.

ST. PETERSBURG – St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Kriseman has endorsed Deborah Figgs-Sanders in her run for the District 5 seat on the St. Petersburg City Council in the Nov. 5 general election.

“Deborah Figgs-Sanders has the experience and enthusiasm necessary to be an effective member of our St. Petersburg City Council. She is progressive-minded, passionate, and committed to keeping St. Pete on the right track. Please join me in voting for Deborah,” Kriseman said.

Figgs-Sanders said, “I am extremely honored to have the endorsement of our city’s mayor. The future of our city will be defined by the decisions we make today. Mayor Kriseman’s focus on energy efficiency, the environment, expanding the footprint for small businesses, building affordable workforce housing, and public education are closely aligned with the tenets of my platform for District 5.”

Figgs-Sanders is a small   business owner, community leader and former YMCA executive director. She is seeking the District 5 seat held by Steve Kornell who is terming out. Her opponent is Trenia L. Cox.

All registered voters in St. Petersburg are eligible to vote. The last day to register to vote in the Nov. 5 general election is Oct. 7. To register online, go to registertovoteflorida.gov.
