Julie Marcus was appointed Tuesday to fill out the term of Deborah Clark, who retired as Pinellas Supervisor of Elections in March.

PINELLAS COUNTY – Julie Marcus on Wednesday (May 20) announced her campaign for Pinellas County Supervisor of Elections.

“I couldn’t be more honored to announce our campaign for Pinellas Supervisor of Elections,” Marcus said. “For nearly two decades I’ve had the honor to work alongside Supervisor Deborah Clark and help oversee more than 320 secure elections in Pinellas County. Now more than ever during this time of uncertainty, our community and all Floridians need to have confidence in the integrity of our elections. I have the experience and confidence to continue to deliver for Pinellas County.”

Marcus, a St. Petersburg resident, was appointed to the elections supervisor’s role Tuesday (May 19) by Gov. Ron DeSantis. She will fill out the term of Deborah Clark, who retired in March.

Marcus said she comes from a family dedicated to service to our country. Her father, a veteran of the U.S. Army, defended America from enemies that would do us harm. Now, Marcus said she works to protect and secure our democracy by ensuring Pinellas County continues to conduct elections that protect our sacred right to vote.

Marcus built a career making the electoral process more accessible, transparent and efficient. Marcus said she believes educating citizens on voter registration and voting options, expanding access to persons with disabilities, leveraging technology to protect and streamline processes, and being a good steward of taxpayer dollars are core responsibilities of an election administrator. Marcus said she has proven she is unwavering in her commitment to serve her community.

Working side-by-side with Clark to conduct more than 320 elections in Pinellas County, Marcus said she has learned from the best.

Marcus is the only announced Republican in the race. Three Democrats have also announced campaigns for the seat – Dan Helm, Mike McGraw and Leonard Schmiege.
