Nicholas Glover is running for the District 2 at-large seat on the Tampa City Council.

TAMPA – Nicholas Glover announced today (Nov. 14) that he will run for the District 2 at-large seat on the Tampa City Council.

In his announcement email, he stressed the need to bring people together and reject the divisive politics of Washington and Tallahassee.

“I want to create a Tampa where everyone — no matter what you look like, who you love, or where you live — can succeed in our city,” Glover said. “To me, that means an inclusive city with homes that families can afford and safe public transit to build on the success of ‘All For Transportation’. Every neighborhood is facing these issues in one way or another and every family deserves the best from our city and the elected officials who represent them. I’m running to bring people together to take on the big issues we face.”

In addition to his support for affordable and workforce housing and safe public transit, Glover promised to be an advocate for the city who will give every citizen a voice.

“Everyone should have a seat at the table,” Glover said. “The decisions being made at City Hall have such a huge effect on our day-to-day lives. I want people to feel that they matter and that their opinions and concerns are being heard. I want every family in Tampa to know we value them and their contribution to our city.”

This is Glover’s first run for public office. He’s been a visible figure in the local business community. Glover is the Florida market manager for Gas South, a firm that works with local businesses to lower their energy and operating costs. He’s been active with the Tampa Chamber of Commerce and served as commissioner of the Enterprise Zone Development Agency for the city of Tampa, an organization that helps small businesses grow while making substantive contributions to neighborhoods.

Glover is a graduate of the Tampa Police Department’s Citizen’s Academy and served on the board of Tampa Crossroads, a local veterans service and advocacy organization. He is the former president of the Hillsborough County Young Democrats and former chair of NLC Tampa Bay, an organization that trains young people to engage in entrepreneurship and the political process. Glover is an active member of Hyde Park United Methodist Church.

Glover is one of three candidates who have announced they are running for the District 2 seat. The other announced candidates are John Godwin and Moshiah Lightburn. The election is March 5.
