Mr. Darling and Wilson were drinking together at the western most end of the 78th Avenue cul de sac just west of Coquina Way about 1:55 p.m. when they began fighting. Witnesses told deputies that Wilson began beating Mr. Darling in the head and struck him in the face six or seven times. Deputies said Mr. Darling was on the ground when they arrived. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Deputies believe alcohol impairment was a factor.
