Oldsmar Election | Election | Oldsmar Council

The forum will be Tuesday (Jan. 26) in the City Council chambers.

OLDSMAR – The Upper Tampa Bay Chamber of Commerce and the city of Oldsmar are hosting a candidates forum for the people running for two city council seats in the March 15 municipal election.

The forum will be from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday (Jan. 26) in the City Council chambers, 101 State W. This forum is being presented to provide voters with the chance to personally meet the candidates seeking to represent them on the City Council. Oldsmar remains a forward looking, dynamically growing city with some key decisions to make in the near future. This is an opportunity to help select the leaders setting the tone for continued development and advancing the city’s quality of life.

Vying for City Council Seat 2 will be Dan Saracki, a current City Council member who is also heading the City’s Bi-Centennial Planning Committee, and Dan Belcher, a political newcomer with a strong background of community involvement, particularly in youth sports. Belcher is promising new ideas and new energy to help shape Oldsmar’s dynamic growth and future.

No incumbent is running for Seat 4. Former Mayor Jerry Beverland is facing Becky Alfonso for the seat. Alfonso is active in the community. She is the executive director of the Florida Bicycle Association and a member of the Bi-Centennial Planning Committee.

The forum will be moderated by the League of Women Voters and each candidate will be given equal time to state their platform, respond to questions and provide a closing summary. Questions from the audience will be welcomed. Representatives from the Supervisor of Elections office will be on hand to register voters and update information. This event is free and open to the public.
