PASCO COUNTY – A Port Richey woman was killed Wednesay (May 11) when the car she was driving was hit head-on, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Irene T. Hallisey, 51, of Port Richey, died at the scene, FHP troopers said. Two passengers in her car, Scott R. Burns, 48, of Wildwood, and Matthew J. Dodge, 43, of Wheaton, IL, were taken to the Regional Medical Center at Bayonet Point with critical injuries. The driver of the other vehicle, Lonnie L. Brazell III, 44, of New Port Richey, was also taken to Bayonet Point with serious injuries.

Troopers said it happened about 5:50 a.m. on Starkey Boulevard south of Alico Pass. They said Brazell was driving his 2005 Ford E350 van north on Starkey approaching a curve. Ms. Hallisey was driving a 1999 Toyota Corolla south on Starkey approaching the curve from the other direction. Troopers said, as the two vehicles approached the curve, the van drifted into the oncoming lane and into the path of Ms. Hallisey’s car. The two vehicles collided. Charges are pending, the FHP said.
