Bicyclist Dies in Pasco Crash

The bicyclist was struck by a car that was passing another vehicle.

PASCO COUNTY – A bicyclist was killed Saturday (April 23) when he was hit by a car.

Franklin K. Williams, 54, of Tampa, died at the scene of his injuries, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. He was not wearing a helmet.

Troopers said Mr. Williams was riding his bike west on the edge of SR 54 east of Carpenter Run about 7:40 a.m. when he was struck by a 2013 Nissan Juke driven by Paul Joseph Mast, 38, of Land O Lakes. The FHP said Mast was passing another vehicle when he hit the bicycle. Alcohol was not a factor, troopers said. Charges are pending.
