Another student filmed the incident and put it on social media. Still others watched, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

SEFFNER – A 14-year-old Armwood High School student has been arrested in connection with the beating of a classmate, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said.

The teen was charged with one count each of battery and false imprisonment. The girl who was beaten was also 14 years old.

“I will continue to have zero tolerance for school violence and will put a stop to students that seek attention by preying on fellow classmates,” Hillsborough Sheriff Chad Chronister said. “Parents deserve to know that their children are safe and our youth should not be afraid of going to school each day to further their education.”

The fight broke out about 12:55 p.m. Thursday (Oct. 25), as fellow students stood around and watched. Deputies said one student filmed the incident and posted it on social media.

Deputies said the accused teen said she was upset that the other girl’s cousins were following her around the Seffner campus. Deputies said that, without provocation, the teen began to punch, kick, and drag the other girl by her hair around the bathroom floor as she tried numerous times to get up and away.

School administrators entered the bathroom after hearing the screaming and managed to pull the teen away. She was suspended from school, pending change of placement, and the student who recorded the incident is being disciplined in accordance to school guidelines.
