The man shot a friend during an argument, according to the St. Petersburg Police Department.

ST. PETERSBURG – Police here have charged a man with the shooting death of a friend during an argument.

Johnny Alan Moore, 63, of 7046 40th Ave. N in St. Petersburg, was charged with one count of second degree murder.

St. Petersburg police said they were called to 7046 40th Ave. N about 4:16 p.m. Wednesday (Nov. 23) to investigate a call that someone had been shot. Officers said they found the home’s resident, Randal “Randy” Wright, 58, inside suffering from a single gunshot wound to the chest. Paramedics took Mr. Wright to St. Petersburg General Hospital where he died from his injuries.

An investigation revealed that Mr. Wright had been shot by Moore during an argument, officers said. Moore was a friend of Mr. Wright and was temporarily living at the home.

After shooting Mr. Wright, officers said Moore got into his 1981 motorhome and drove away. Police said they alerted area law enforcement agencies because they believed Moore was heading toward the interstate. Tampa police officers spotted Moore driving his motorhome near U.S. Hwy. 301 and Dr. MLK Boulevard in Tampa. Tampa police stopped and arrested Moore.
