St. Petersburg Man Accused of Abusing Baby

He was the only one caring for the 5 1/2 month old when the injuries occurred, according to the St. Petersburg Police Department.

ST. PETERSBURG – A St. Petersburg man has been charged with child abuse after a 5 1/2-month-old baby in his care was found with serious injuries, the St. Petersburg Police Department said.

Michael Hylton, 32, was charged with one count of child abuse-aggravated battery causing great bodily harm. The boy’s name and relationship to Hylton are confidential under state law.

The baby suffered severe head injuries and other serious internal injuries consistent with physical abuse. Police said Hylton was the only one caring for the child at the time he was injured.
Hylton could not provide any explanation for the injuries.
