He turned himself in but refused to talk with deputies, according to the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office.

PASCO COUNTY – A Port Richey man has been arrested in connection with Monday’s (Feb. 19) armed burglary and rape of a 71-year-old woman, the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office said.

Anton Dawkins, 24, was charged with one count each of sexual battery and armed burglary to a dwelling.

Deputies said that the woman, who has a pet sitting business, had come to a home in New Port Richey to feed the owner’s cats. Shortly after she entered the home, deputies said Dawkins brandished a gun at her and made her go into a bedroom where he raped her. When he was finished, deputies said, Dawkins allowed the woman to dress and leave the house.

Deputies said they received a tip about Dawkins’ identity. The woman was able to identify him from sheriff’s booking photos that showed only his tattoos. Deputies also used a fingerprint found at the scene to positively identify Dawkins.

Dawkins, who was aware that deputies were searching for him, turned himself in Tuesday (Feb. 20) to the Land O’ Lakes Detention Center where he refused to speak with deputies.
