Police Charge Tampa Man in Connection with Store Owner’s Murder

The store’s owner was shot to death during an armed robbery.

TAMPA – A Tampa man has been charged with murder in connection with the shooting death Sunday (July 16) of store owner Mohamoud Ibrahim during a robbery, the Tampa Police Department said.

Christopher Antonio Sheffield, 24, of Tampa, is charged with one count each of first degree murder, robbery with a firearm, carrying a concealed firearm and felon in possession of a firearm.

The robbery and shooting happened about 12:37 p.m. at the 29th Street Store at 2802 N 29th St. When officers arrived on-scene they found Mr. Ibrahim, 60, who had been shot and killed apparently during an attempted robbery. Tampa police said they talked with witnesses and reviewed video from the store and quickly identified Sheffield as a possible suspect.

He was arrested about 4 a.m. today (July 17) after officers were told that he might be hiding out at an apartment complex.
