Man Charged with Arson in Ybor City Fire

The fire caused about $3,000 in damage, Tampa police said.

TAMPA – A man has been accused of setting a fire at the Ybor Resort and Spa,. according to the Tampa Police Department.

Carroll DeMoss, 46, was charged with one count each of second degree arson and burglary.

Two Tampa Police officers were on patrol in Ybor City early Friday (Dec. 15) morning when they saw smoke from a vacant building at the Ybor Resort and Spa, 1512 E 8th Ave.

Tampa Fire Rescue was called and put out the fire, which fire investigators said, had been deliberately set.

A man, later identified as DeMoss, was found in the building and was arrested after he was interviewed.

Damage to the building has been estimated at $3,000.
