Lithia Man Accused of Possessing Child Pornography

Some images depicted children as young as 5 years old involved in sexual acts, Hillsborough deputies said.

LITHIA – A Lithia man has been accused of having on his computer more than 100 pictures of children involved in sexual acts, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

Michael J. Furey, 46, of Lithia, was charged with 100 counts of possession of child pornography.

Deputies said that, on Nov. 15, members of the sheriff’s CID Internet Predator Unit, acting on a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, served a residential search warrant on a house on Dunlinwood Lane in Lithia in connection with the the downloading of child pornography.

A computer was seized and a forensic examination was conducted. More than 100 images of child pornography were found. Deputies said some images depicted children as young as 5 years old involved in sexual acts.

After that, deputies got an arrest warrant for Furey, who turned himself in Monday (Nov. 26) at the Hillsborough County Courthouse.
