The shooting happened about 2:16 p.m. Wednesday (July 4). Deputies said they were called to the area of 5280 Main St. N in the unincorporated Lealman area for a report of gun shots heard in the area.

When deputies arrived they spoke with Lowe, 40, a homeless man. Lowe told them that he was walking westbound on 52nd Avenue N when he saw a silver SUV pull up and stop along the railroad tracks
just west of Main Street N and 52 Avenue.

Lowe told deputies he started walking along the east side of the railroad tracks when a man got out of the SUV with a handgun and started firing it north towards 54th Avenue N. Lowe said he was about 10 to 15 yards away from the man when he turned around to walk away from the gunfire.

Deputies went to the railroad tracks where the incident happened but the SUV was gone. Deputies said they found several spent shell casings at the scene.

Deputies circulated through the area and found a silver 2018 Land Rover SUV thatmatched the description Lowe provided. The Land Rover was parked a few blocks away at Duval Circle. Deputies identified the owner as Cheatham.
